The Disappearance of Rachel Conger

30 year old Rachel Conger was last seen in Paris, Tennessee on March 13, 2008. She was last seen riding with her husband in his pickup truck.

Background

In 1997, Rachel married Paul Conger. He was approximately 20 years older than her, and was retired from the Tennessee National Guard.

In January 2008, Rachel moved out of the Como, Tennessee home she shared with Paul. They were going through marital problems, but had been trying to reconcile shortly before her disappearance.

When Rachel vanished, she left behind a 13 year old daughter, Amber, whom she gave birth to before marrying Paul. After her mother’s disappearance, Amber went to live with her grandmother.

Disappearance

On the evening of March 12, 2008, Rachel Conger and her husband Paul spent the night together in Como with Rachel’s 13 year old daughter, Amber.

The couple had been having marital problems, which resulted in Rachel moving out two months prior, however they were attempting to reconcile.

On the morning of March 13, 2008, Rachel was spotted in Paris, Tennessee, riding with Paul in his 2000 gray Ford F-150 pickup truck. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

At 9:33 am, an acquaintance of Rachel’s called her phone. Paul answered and seemed upset, and the caller was unable to talk to Rachel.

At 10:20 am, a witness saw Paul arrive at his home alone. He drove to the home, stayed for a few minutes, then drove away.

Paul and Rachel disappeared at the same time, which prompted their loved ones to contact authorities.

Investigation

On March 15, 2008, police found Paul’s truck near his home, with Rachel’s wallet, phone, and medication inside.

On March 16, 2008, Paul’s body was found in the woods off Briarpatch Lake Road, about 500 yards from his home. He died from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Rachel’s daughter, Amber, claims to have witnessed Paul abuse her mother for more than 10 years, and says that he had threatened to kill her on multiple occasions.

Despite multiple searches of the area, no further clues as to Rachel’s whereabouts have been found. Authorities believe Rachel was the victim of a murder/suicide.

Appearance

Rachel has blonde hair, green eyes, stands 5’2 tall, and weighs 125 pounds. She has a metal implant in her jaw and breast implants.

She has several tattoos; a butterfly on her right ankle, “Mia Marie” and a paw print on the outside of her right ankle, “Solly Shai” and a paw print on the inside of her left ankle, “Lynnia Lane” and a paw print on the outside of her left ankle, a ladybug on the top of her right foot, and a butterfly on a vine on her back.
